Hailey's Anatomy Lesson

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Jonathan's mommy has inspired me to blog about something funny that happened the other night in the bathtub. Hailey and Max bathe together every night and generally get along well. The other night Hailey was helping me wash Max's back because he is in that standing at all times phase, and she was naming his body parts. I was paying attention , but I was a little distracted because it had been ONE OF THOSE DAYS. You know.

"Washing Maxie's back"
"Washing Maxie's shoulders"
"Washing Maxie's belly and button"
"Washing Maxie's 'gina"
"Mommy, Max's 'gina funny"
Yes, it is. Actually that is a penis. He is a boy, so he has a penis. You are girl, so yours is a vagina.

Back to washing her 'gina.

Now I don't know where you all fall on the proper names for private parts, but I have always heard that it is best to call them the correct name, so that is what I am doing. It, however, does not make it any less funny to hear a two-year-old say 'gina. She still refers to his boy parts as a 'gina, so I am waiting to hear its real name soon. I think it will be pretty funny!

Good post! I am happy I could be an inspiration! Those kiddos in a bath are just adorable!

We've waffled on this one. I'm currently trying out more proper names but we called it a "google" forever and that is what he calls it, too. Not so good for obvious reasons!!

I got your email today and our computer crashed at work before I could write back but I will tomorrow!!

We've always done baths together of course and we go with the all encompassing "bootie" but I do tell Ethan often "tuck your pee pee" when he's on the potty.

Eh, I don't think they really care what it's called right now anyway. I doubt I have 20 year olds who think every anatomical part is called "bootie." Hehe.

HAHA!! This totally cracked me up!!!! LOVE IT. We try to use the proper names too but it KILLS steven to say "gina".

And I don't think I'm gonna be able to make the clay center this friday either! I'll email you tomorrow.

Our kids say penis and crotch. Although when she was younger, crotch came out as "cock". I'm glad she can say it clearly now...!!
